The Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) is a national organization of human rights lawyers in the Philippines. [1] [2] It was founded in 1974 by Senator José Diokno[1], Lorenzo Tañada[3] and Joker Arroyo[4] during the martial law period under former President Ferdinand Marcos. [5] This is the first and largest group of human rights lawyers established in the country. [ref. needed] They fight against various violations of human rights and civil liberties. Its current president is human rights lawyer Chel Diokno,[6] founding dean of the Faculty of Law at De La Salle University.
